Quick summary
Plan a comfortable Kelowna day with a short waterfront walk, garden visit, museum stop or patient paddle lesson. Choose by your interests and mobility, with time for breaks.
1. Choose a short waterfront outing
Pick a manageable section of the lakefront, then add a café or lunch stop. Plan for seating, washrooms and the return journey rather than judging the day by how far you walk.
Check the particular route for your mobility needs. A lakeside setting does not mean every path or beach access is suitable for everyone.
2. Visit Kasugai Gardens
The garden beside City Hall is a pleasant downtown stop for people who enjoy plants and a quieter setting. Check opening hours and the access information before visiting.
3. Explore local history
The Okanagan Heritage Museum offers an indoor alternative when the weather is too hot, wet or cold for the outing you planned. Ask about access needs and allow time to browse at your own pace.
4. Try a patient introduction to paddle boarding
Our Learn to Paddle Senior Class takes extra time with the basics. Standing is optional; the focus is getting comfortable with the equipment and learning at a relaxed pace.
Discuss mobility, swimming confidence and any assistance you may need before booking. Getting on and off a board is still part of an open-water activity. A slower pace does not remove those demands.
5. Make the meal part of the experience
A comfortable lunch with a view can be the main event. Reserve where appropriate, check the access arrangements and keep the rest of the schedule light enough to enjoy the conversation.
Plan for comfort
- Choose one main activity and one optional stop.
- Confirm seating, washrooms and access.
- Bring water and a layer suited to the weather.
- Allow extra time between bookings.
If paddling appeals, our senior paddle boarding guide explains what to expect. Comfortable learning at a standard pace? You can also consider our regular beginner lesson.
